Performance Notes
These trios are mainly transcriptions from Bach's English suites, and being an early Hornists' Nest publication, don't have the usual insightful comments by Shaw as later works do.All the trademarks of future releases are there though, with a good selection of pieces, three individual, interesting parts, and excellent use of the bass clef (in new notation) for the third horn.
Being all dance movements except for the prelude, some hornists may prefer the preludes and fugues featured in the other Bach trios. It is all Bach though in the end, and one can't go wrong with Bach. And Shaw.
