Performance Notes
This is a combination of two famous works, Gonoud's Funeral march of a marionette (example), and Bratton's Teddy Bear's picnic (example). Charles-Francois Gounod (1818-1893) was a French composer, best known for his chamber works and the operas Faust and Romeo et Juliette. The Funeral march is known because of its use as the theme of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents". Teddy Bears picnic came from the pen of John Walter Bratton (1867-1947), an American composer known for exactly this 1907 instrumental piece (rather than any of his other songs). Martinets arrangement... just has to be played. For the price, it's some of the best entertainment for the money a quartet can get.
