Performance Notes
These are two unspecified duos Hilfiger transcribed from works of Robert Schumann, of medium difficulty, even though there is technical ability required in the low range. The first trio is in a moderately fast 6/8, with a characteristic rhythmic figure of quaver – 2 semiquavers – quaver (eight – 2 sixteenth – eight note). The second trio is a slow, more lyrical piece, with a theme that gets passed among the parts. While graded level 4 on the Kendor brass ensemble music scale in 1972, this work should bo accessible to the ambitious intermediate trio.
