Performance Notes
The Three moods are little character pieces, each of them displaying, as the title implies, a different mood. The movement titles however are not all helpful, it's especially hard to figure out the mood behind “waltz”. “Lament” is a slow piece that explores different colours, with the parts moving chromatically. The “waltz” is again very chromatic, in a typical 9/8 meter (changing into ¾ when the subdivision changes from 3 to 2). “Games” is the most difficult movement, with a fast tempo, some meter changes, and hand stopping. An interesting but not too difficult work.
