Performance Notes
Love notes starts with a 6th horn solo, introducing the theme, with an accompanying note entering in bar 5. In bar 9 the solo moves to horn 4, while the note continues, and a counter-melody is added. The theme comes back again, for the last time until the very end, while from bar 31 on a new motif takes over and is repeated continuously. The harmonies in this work are all based on major, minor, and 7th chords, and they function as a more or less static accompaniment, over which the repeated thematic material can meander. Were it not for the fast middle section, it would have been placed in the easy difficulty category.
