Creator's Comments
A "fun" piece of some four minutes, showing many of the instrument's different sounds, with a serious start and a brilliant showy finish.
Performance Notes
This work for two groups of three horns each, demands many of the standard techniques a horn player needs: straight mutes, hand stopping, optional double tonguing, extreme dynamics, varying articulation, ensemble playing within sections of three, a variety of rhythms, change between meters of 2 and 3, glissandi, syncopations, and a couple more. The gran finale is a widely spaced C major chord, however the rest of the works has at least one semi-tone clash in every other chord. The style is unmistakably Hyde’s, so if one likes any of his other works, this one is a good buy as well.
