Performance Notes
These are four typical fugal compositions with late Renaissance harmonic language. All parts, even though in different tessituras, are equally important, and while the rhythms are not difficult, there are some tricky passages mainly in the outer voices (high notes for the first horn, and low octave leaps for the fourth). The style and tempo markings of all four pieces are similar, so they can either be performed as a set as well as individually.
