Performance Notes
Wilcox’s arrangement of the finale of Brahm’s Symphony no.1 is one of the best simplifying arrangements ever done. Reduced to the essential and the (rather easily) playable, it contains all the good (horn) moments as they appear in the original. One curiosity is the inclusion of just five bars of bass clef in horn 4, with almost the entire rest of the piece sitting on the leger lines. Not exactly exemplary editing. Other than that - if you can find a copy somewhere, do not hesitate to purchase this arrangement!
