“”Wash of sound”, as the composer calls it, does not refer to the harmonic language of the piece, as the whole work is built on major triads, and attempts at creating some lines within these chords. All movements are in steps or major triads within one octave, and the only modulation happening is from F major to G major (in the 2nd part). A piece worth investigating for beginning ensembles.

The purpose of the piece A loving God is not to say anything profound musically or otherwise, it is simply a praise chorus that celebrates all that is simple. Perhaps, we forget to be thankful for simple things. That is not to say that the idea of a loving God is a simple one, it is this simplicity that has confused generations upon generations. This is a celebration of how simple it is, for me to believe in a loving God…
What I am trying to achieve with this piece is a wash of sound. I don’t know of any other way how to describe it. Perhaps I am trying to achieve a bell choir type of sound. It can be conducted in a slow four or in two.
The entrances at the beginning and throughout should be as bell like as possible and sustained throughout.
Part 3 is for soloist or duet played repeated until the end.
