Performance Notes:

This fast piece takes its strength from the rhythmic drive, facilitated by the constantly changing meters and hence emphases on certain beats. The division of parts is also well done, starting off with alternating pairs (1+3, 2+4) and then switching to adjacent pairs (2+3, 5+6). There are also a number of colours explored, with the use of a mute and hand stopping (some quick change-overs are required). And even though it may look a bit of a technical exercise on paper, the harmonies work well together to reinforce the rhythmic domination.
