Performance Notes:
This is another one of Walsh’s arrangements for horn quartet, easy to play, and very effective. Lasso was a late Renaissance composer, of equal fame as Palestrina, and the major exponent of the Franco-Flemish polyphonic composing style. One of many Ave Maria settings, this one convinces with its four melodic lines, harmonic richness, and imitatory (canon-like) gestures.
